Soludo Is a Thinker, My Friend Since 2003 – Tinubu

In a landmark visit to Anambra State, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was received with fanfare and traditional honor during a grand civic reception held at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka. The occasion marked the President’s first state visit to Anambra since assuming office and featured the commissioning of two major infrastructural projects — the Solution Fun City and the Government House Mini-City — initiated by the Soludo-led administration.

Addressing a large gathering of traditional rulers, political leaders, and residents, President Tinubu praised Anambra’s innovation, economic potential, and cultural pride, describing the state as “a beacon of commerce, intellect, and strength.” He reaffirmed his longstanding relationship with Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, saying their collaboration dates back to 2003 and is now yielding tangible results for the state and region.

“From what I have seen and heard, it is evident that a solid foundation is being laid, and Anambra is indeed on the rise,” Tinubu said, commending Soludo’s developmental vision for transforming the state into an African version of “Dubai-Taiwan-Silicon Valley.”

The President also used the platform to highlight the economic reforms under his Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said have restored macroeconomic stability and renewed investor confidence. He acknowledged the hardship caused by fuel subsidy removal and forex unification but assured the people that his administration is laying a “strong foundation for a more stable, prosperous, and inclusive economy.”

“We have passed a new minimum wage law, and I commend Anambra State for paying even above the national minimum,” Tinubu noted.

On national unity and security, the President assured continued federal support to Anambra and the Southeast to ensure peace, stability, and economic progress.

The highlight of the event came when President Tinubu was conferred with the prestigious chieftaincy title “Dike Si Mba Anambra” — meaning “Hero from Outside Anambra” — by all 179 traditional rulers of the state, led by Igwe Chidubem Iweka, Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council. Reflecting on a previous title given to him in 2005, Tinubu expressed deep gratitude for the historic honor.

“In 2005, I was given the title of Omenife Awka. Today, I have been honored by all the traditional rulers of Anambra. I am now your son—your own. Maybe my friend Governor Soludo should find me a plot of land here for my retirement home,” the President quipped.
